Trevor Hendy

Trevor Hendy (born 7 August 1968) is a former Australian professional surf lifesaver.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Hendy dominated Ironman (surf lifesaving) races, winning the Australian Championship 6 times and coming second on 3 occasions. He also won the Uncle Toby's Super Series 4 times.[1] He was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in 1996 for services to surf lifesaving,[2] and is a member of the Australian,[1] Queensland,[3] Gold Coast[4] and Australian Surf Lifesaving Halls of Fame.[5]

Hendy's strongest leg of the Iron Man was always the Malibu Board. He was Australian and World Malibu Board champion several times.

Later in his career Hendy turned his attention to Kayak paddling where despite having some success, could never find selection in Australia's Olympic teams.[1]

After retiring from professional sport, Hendy became a commentator.

Hendy was declared Bankrupt in 2000.
